Afternoon Delights (or the alchemical rhetoric of the incident), 2022

Installation / Action

The project was held and exhibited as part of the ‘Noise Agency’ residency. A program hosted by the Felicia Blumenthal Music Center in Tel Aviv that included a six-week stay in the agency's space in Tel Aviv, for the purpose of experimenting, testing or researching artistic activity related to sound and the community.

Afternoon Delights is the third edition of a project that started in 2018, which is built around the establishment of the fictitious ‘Linda van der Hox Association of Critical Foreign Affairs’ (LVDHA) which invites selected people to join its ranks as agents. The project has been held in different public spaces around the world. In the first edition a temporary LVDHA office was opened in Paris city centre, and in the second edition another office was opened in Brussels, Palais de Justice.

In the current edition, members of the "Noise Agency" were added to the association and performed a number of guerrilla operations related to sound: a punk performance on the roof of a parking lot, an eavesdropping operation at a petrol station near the airport, and an evening of tape DJing from one of the agents' electronic secretarial archives.

Alongside the active operations, I converted the Noise Agency's space into the main base of the LVDHA, where video, still images, sound and print documents from the various operations were presented.
